Street Cardy Style

The cardigan. Usually associated with Granny's and Grandpa's and mousy school teachers. But team it up with some jazzy colours and prints, you can turn it around. Perfect for summer nights chilling on the beach or in the city streets. Paul and Joe, youheshe.com - all I have say!

Scrub Up!

British Crabtree & Evelyn is known for its luxury flower scented soaps and perfumes for women, however, for many many years the brand has produced outstanding mens series which are oftern overlooked! I stumbled upon this new soap the other day, and I must say its the most yummy summer soap! If only they had it as a cologne. It's not specifically for men or women but I'd say it has a quite masculine scent. It combines, vetiver and juniperberry (not quite sure what in the world a juniperberry is but it sounds interesting!). There's a lovely little shop in Silkegade in the center of Copenhagen, Victroria's Crabtree & Evelyn, stop by and have a whiff!

The two are parting on extremely good terms and Hermes thanks Gaultier for his "remarkable creative input over the seven years.". Good luck Chris, you have some big shoes to fill!

Modern Day Heros!

As a little kid one always had a hero, policemen, sportsmen, superheros, cowboys or soliders. They've always been a source of inspiration. This summer everyones playing dress-up, and one simply must own some kind of cult jacket. So go have a good rumage around your dad's old clothes, see if you can find his old high school jacket, or denim jacket. If that fails, vintage shops are always a sure bet. Around Larsbjørnstræde, in the center of Copenhagen, there're are tons of second-hand shops. The sun is out so take a stroll and have a look.

Helmut Lang turns Exhibitionist

Helmut Lang, icon of the 1990's, the king of minimalism is currently being honoured through an exhibition at the Bath Fashion Museum. Some of his most famous peices will be shown and the designer is thrilled to be a part of the exhibit, 'Turn of the Century'. However this is not the first time Lang has donated his clothes to various galleries. Around the world he has shown in London's Victoria & Albert Museum, the Musée de la Mode in Paris and Japan's Kyoto Costume Institute, and since stepping down from his label in 2005 the designer has been focusing on developing as an artist. If you're so lucky and happen to be in England any time soon, don't miss it.

Back to the Chalk Board

My little brother in his uniform.

Growing up I've always had to wear a school uniform and resented it, and now I finally don't have to wear one anymore I find myself putting on knee socks and a tie anyway. Ironic. The british school boy has been used as inspiration for many many years, and this summer there a definatelty some new takes on the trend. Satchels and rucsacks are back on the scene, and its all about retro geek gear and school boy wims. Here are some ideas for taking a trip down memory lane...

Mad May Hatters - The Panama

Staying in theme of the Colonial style, the Panama hat is another classic which all acomplished gentleman should own. A sure statement of good taste, wack on a pair of wayfares and you have a timeless summer look. In the center of Copenhagen there is this wonderful little mens hat shop dating back to all the way back to 1857! Stop by when you get a chance, its quite an experience and the worst that can happen is you leave with one of these!

The Raj

The Raj was a term used to describe the Bristish Imperial rule in India between the 1850's and 1950's. I've always loved the style and mood of this period, this completely overdressed and over the top attire in the swealtering heat of the Indian jungle - absolutely fabulous and completely potty! The impractiacal white linen, suits, ties and butterflies. This summer I'd love to see some more gentleman dressing up in white, without it looking like something out of cheesy rap music video.

Prints prints prints...

Christopher Kane, matchesfashion.com

Prints can be tricky, either they're too much or not enough! But Christopher Kane's summer collection is super cool, with unique sky prints in all shapes and colours. This tee would brighten up any old pair of shorts.

Deuce

I'm sure most of you will remember having a pair of these in your school kit bag for summertime P.E classes! Superga has always been known as the tennis shoe over all others, dating back to the 1920's its a timeless peice of footwear and good alternative to the usual converse this summer. Something which never goes out of style, especially in white or navy. A freshly ironed pair of chinos and classsic polo and you're ready to go!

Get them at my-wardrobe.com for 289 kr.

Morning doodles...

Hey there Mr. Blue!

Junya Wantanabe, brownfashion.com, 6.135 kr.

Ultramarine, a colour I always associate with my primary school days when learning about the art renaisance in history, the colour which came from the semi precious stone Lapiz Lazuli. Now I'm seeing it again, this summer its all over the place and no wardrobe is complete without something in this gorgeous colour. I came across this fab jacket, and once you have a bit of summer tan it will be perfect for summer nights and rainy days!

However, if the choice is between buying a jacket insted of going on holiday, I'd say go for this very similar one from G-Star at urbanoutfitters.co.uk, for the much more forgiving price of 785 kr.

Fabulously British

Since living in England, there is one brand which I've continued to be a hugh fan of and always make sure keep up to date with. The britsh make Jack Wills is the perfect cross between the Ralph Lauren preppy style and the Abercrombie & Fitch relaxed cool. Its become quite a fenomenon over the years amoungst the british private school kids, somewhat of a lifestyle with polo matches, parties and all sorts of events. All of my friends over there worship it completely.
This summers collection is all about being effortlessly stlylish, and lets face it. In the summertime all you want to do is just throw something on and be on your way out into the sun. Its all about missmatching texiles and colours. Throwing together items of clothing you never though could go. For example, tracksuit trousers and sporty jersey tees with blazars and formal shorts give a fantasticly fresh twist on the rather overused preppy trend which is hot now. And remember, pastel colours aren't just for girls!
